Polaroid Relaunching Instant Cameras

After all the difficulties and changes of ownership during the last years, the new management of Polaroid now understands the source of the brand’s attraction – which is surprisingly not based in digital cameras but in Dr. Edwin Land’s groundbreaking 1948 invention of Instant Photography, which he ingeniously devised and passionately developed with a lot of care and devotion.

Since 2005, it has been our honour and pleasure to celebrate and evoke the sensational and almost mysterious power of Instant Photography in memoriam of Dr. Land. Doing everything in our power to keep this beloved and unique photographic medium alive, we grabbed the chance to take over the last factory producing Instant films from the old Polaroid management and to start The Impossible Project in 2008. Re-inventing a new analog integral film, we are now preparing, supporting and managing the comeback of Instant Photography.

Accomplishing this mission and proudly owning the former Polaroid plant in Enschede (NL), as well as already holding the first working hand-coated samples in our trembling hands, we are pleased to herewith announce a history-making cooperation between The Impossible Project and Polaroid:

Polaroid will re-launch the legendary Polaroid One Step Camera and is therefore commissioning The Impossible Project to develop and produce a limited edition of Polaroid® branded Instant Films in the middle of 2010.

 What totally sucks is I just got rid of both my iZone and Polaroid camera a few months ago at a yard sale. I’ve been saving those cameras since high school until I finally lost hope that they would make a comeback and now they do this to me?! Its so unfair!! I’m super bummed now…

Remember Britney’s ad for iZone circa 1999?

It was always in YM and Teen Magazine! The pictures came out as stickers and you would need magnifying glasses to see them. Those were the good ol’days, the not-enough-moolah-to-afford digital camera years.

Rainy Daze

The first storm of the year hit Northern California this morning. The rattling of the wind woke me at 5 am and I’ve been up ever since thinking about what to do on a special rainy Tuesday. I could…

  • Bake cookies, or brownies, or cupcakes, or pies, or anything to fill the house with something yummy!
  • Reorganize my closet to get ready for fall/winter.
  • Read a book.
  • Eat some pho/Vietnamese noodles.
  • Work on a puzzle. I get so absorbed I can finish a 1000 piece puzzle by myself in one day.
  • Start a movie marathon.
  • Play sudoku. I play on the expert level!
  • Get some online (early Christmas) shopping done.
  • Give myself a manicure and pedicure.
  • Take photos. I love to play with my SLR when there’s something to take pictures of, rain drops!
  • Invite friends over for Japanese shabu shabu/Chinese hotpot!
  • Take a long nap.

What do you do on rainy days?

Opening this book was like traveling back in time. I couldn’t put it down until I was finished and even now, I wish I could be reading more! What I love most about it was its humor and honestly, probably even sex appeal. I thought CS was super dreamy and so did my sis! Its as addictive as M&Ms!

Bypass Wait Time

In order to maximize revenue stream for advertisements, most file hosting services, such as RapidShare and DepositFiles, have a countdown timer which asks downloaders to wait for a specific time before download links are available. This forces the user to stay longer on the site to increase page views before downloading a file.

Here’s a simple trick to bypass the wait time to download from DepositFiles using Firefox. First, load the download link in your Firefox browser. Go to download the file as a free user (if you’re a gold member, you need not read this… doh!) and a page with a countdown timer will appear.

Go to your “view” options and “page style” to select “no style” turning your page into plain text.

A “download the file” button should now be visible just below the wait time.

Click and start downloading immediately!

If you need to download multiple files from DepositFiles, open multiple tabs with the links for the files in each tab and repeat this step while the timer is counting down. This will bypass the download limit time!

I received a funny email from a friend this morning about passive aggressive workplace kitchen notes and realized that I wasn’t the only victim here! Feel free to share!
