The untethered jailbreak for iPhone 4S and iPad 2 running iOS 5.0.1 has arrived! The process is really simple and it took me a little over 15 minutes to backup my device and successfully run the Absinthe jailbreak. Apple is still signing off on 5.0.1 firmware so I recommend you bring your devices up to date as soon as possible in order to jailbreak. This is not recommended if you plan to unlock your phone.
WARNING:
Jailbreaking is NOT for the faint of heart. Do not attempt this unless you know exactly what you are doing to your device. I am not responsible for anything that happens beyond this point.
Before you jailbreak, you should:
- Always backup your device.
- Make sure you’re running 5.0.1 and your iTunes is up to date.
- Turn off your passcode lock.
- Do not use your own VPN setup (Absinthe needs to setup its own).
Some known bugs:
- If the jailbreak is incomplete, your camera roll will be empty. Rerun Absinthe once to fix, and then another time to complete the jailbreak.
- If you have an “Error establishing a database connection” message, go to Settings and turn on VPN. The VPN connection will give an error but this is normal. A reboot should happen a few moments after the error. Rerun the jailbreak again.
- Toggle VPN only after Absinthe says it’s done, or it will not work. VPN should error and then reboot soon. If it does not, rerun Absinthe.
- If Absinthe crashes, reboot your device and try again.

Last Friday, I went shopping with my girlfriends and had a major reality check: I’m loosing sight of my weight gain. I couldn’t fit into sizes I usually wore and almost had a panic attack in the dressing room of Banana Republic. Right there and then, I decided to put myself on a diet and exercise plan.

I saw this app on Creature Comforts‘s Friday Faves and had to have it! Its free and can be loaded on the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. I did my first 30-minute exercise on Sunday but it totally kicked my butt! I was sprawled on the floor unable to move after 20-minutes because I was sooo out of shape — don’t judge me! My body was super sore the next day and I could hardly walk downstairs without hanging onto the rail for dear life but I knew I had a great workout. I decided to let my body rest on Monday and Tuesday, only going for light 5-minute jogs to loosen up my muscles and Wednesday night I completed my first 30-minute exercise! What a great start to a new year!
What I love most about this app is you can select different workouts for the results you are trying to achieve such as getting toned, lean, strong, or focused. Also, if you’re unfamiliar with some of the workout moves, you can play the video clips on the screen at any time during your workout!
Oh and did I mention that it’s FREE!?! Go and get it!!!
How many times have you caught yourself digging through your wallet for your reward card and holding up the line in front of the cashier? You’re rummaging through your wallet or purse only to realize that you’ve left it at home — or worse, ya lost it!
CardStar is a simple solution for managing digital versions of your plastic loyalty cards, reward cards and club membership cards. Use your phone’s camera to scan in the barcode for hundreds of national and regional retailers, libraries and associations. Also, you can easily add a custom label if you can’t find the card under CardStar’s list of retailers. When you’re shopping or on the go, quickly access your cards with a single touch from the CardStar home screen. It’s that easy!
I also enjoy handing my iPhone to the cashier as they happily scan the CardStar barcode thinking its the coolest thing they ever saw. There were also a few occasion when shoppers waiting in line behind me asked to see my iPhone because they were blown away by how useful this app was!
