iOS 5.0.1 iPhone Jailbreak

The untethered jailbreak for iPhone 4S and iPad 2 running iOS 5.0.1 has arrived! The process is really simple and it took me a little over 15 minutes to backup my device and successfully run the Absinthe jailbreak. Apple is still signing off on 5.0.1 firmware so I recommend you bring your devices up to date as soon as possible in order to jailbreak. This is not recommended if you plan to unlock your phone.

WARNING:
Jailbreaking is NOT for the faint of heart. Do not attempt this unless you know exactly what you are doing to your device. I am not responsible for anything that happens beyond this point.

Before you jailbreak, you should:

  • Always backup your device.
  • Make sure you’re running 5.0.1 and your iTunes is up to date.
  • Turn off your passcode lock.
  • Do not use your own VPN setup (Absinthe needs to setup its own).

Some known bugs:

  • If the jailbreak is incomplete, your camera roll will be empty. Rerun Absinthe once to fix, and then another time to complete the jailbreak.
  • If you have an “Error establishing a database connection” message, go to Settings and turn on VPN. The VPN connection will give an error but this is normal. A reboot should happen a few moments after the error. Rerun the jailbreak again.
  • Toggle VPN only after Absinthe says it’s done, or it will not work. VPN should error and then reboot soon. If it does not, rerun Absinthe.
  • If Absinthe crashes, reboot your device and try again.

For the next 24 hours, I am blacking out Deelightful Musings in protest of SOPA and PIPA.

If one of these bills should pass, my blog would no longer exist. As someone who blogs and creates content for the web, I feel we need better legislation against online piracy. Watch this video to learn how this legislation will affect internet freedom.

Our Custom Closet

So we left off last November with trying to find the right stain for our custom closet after recovering from the sloppy cut job we did on the shelves. Well, the wood stain we picked didn’t turn out as expected. We wanted to match the dark brown furniture in our bedroom but the wood we picked out had really big grains so the staining came out ugly and uneven. Anyways, a picture’s worth a thousand words, so here’s what happened…

We were swamped with events during the holiday season and had very little time to work on the house. Now that we’re finally into January and things have slowed down a bit, we’re back to working on the closet.

It feels sooo great to finally have a permanent closet! Unfortunately, I have a ton of clothes that won’t fit in our new closet so the rest will have to be donated… boo hoo!

Here’s our new closet, tada!
